Members of Yonder Mountain String Band Join Widespread Panic

Yonder Mountain String Band opened for Widespread Panic over the weekend. On Friday night, the two groups performed at Tuscaloosa, AL’s Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, and Panic busted out “Baby, Let Me Follow You Down” for the first time since March 23, 2007.

A night later, Widespread Panic and Yonder appeared at Memphis, TNs’ FedEx Forum. During Panic’s set, Yonder mandolin wiz Jeff Austin sat in on a cover of “Fixin’ To Die.”

The members of Panic also nodded to Memphis heroes Booker T. & the M.G.‘s by wedging a cover of “Green Onions” into “Henry Parsons Died.”

Finally, last night both Austin and Yonder banjo player Dave Johnston sat in with Panic at Biloxi, MS’ Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Johnston emerged for “C. Brown” a few songs into the band’s first set while Austin appeared on “Who Do You Belong To?” a bit later.
Widespread Panic will perform at Savannah, GA’s Johnny Mercer Theatre tonight while Yonder is off the road until their Harvest Music Festival on October 13.
