On the turntable this Sunday...Steel Wheels

Steel Wheels is the 19th British and 21st American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released in 1989. Heralded as a major comeback upon its release, the project is notable for the patching up of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards' relationship, a reversion to a more classic style of music and the launching of the band's biggest world tour at the time. It is also long-time bassist Bill Wyman's final full-length studio album with the Stones, preceding the announcement of his departure in January 1993. Wyman's final tenure with the band would be on two studio tracks for 1991's Flashpoint.
Steel Wheels was the final album of new material the band would record for Columbia Records.

On the turntable this Sunday...Hydra

Hydra is the second studio album by American rock band Toto, released in 1979.  It reached #37 on the Billboard Pop Albums.  While most of the album's singles failed to make any impact in the charts, "99", a song inspired by the 1971 science fiction movie THX 1138reached #26 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Though a commercial success, Hydra was far less popular than the band's top-selling debut.  Allmusic suggested this was due to the band's failure to establish a distinctive, recognizable sound on either Hydra or their debut, which would have allowed listeners to immediately identify Toto's major hits with the band themselves. They also speculated that most listeners were not familiar with the film (namely, THX 1138) on which "99" was based, and thus found the lyrics hopelessly abstruse, preventing the song from becoming as big a hit as it could have been.

Listen to Toto's Studio Version of Weezer's 'Hash Pipe' (Ultimate Classic Rock)

Toto have released a studio version of Weezer’s “Hash Pipe” from 2001's The Green Album, continuing a fun game of musical tag.

It all began when a Weezer fan launched a campaign to have the band perform "Africa." They appeared to troll her by covering "Rosanna" instead. Weezer then followed up with "Africa," and earned their biggest hit single this decade. Toto joined  in when they played “Hash Pipe” live in Vancouver last month.

UCR Ranks Stevie Wonder's Albums Worst to Best

Few artists have had the impact Stevie Wonder had in the '70s.

His legacy started a decade earlier, when Motown tried to shape the 11-year-old blind singer and harmonica player into a junior version of Ray Charles. But, as you'll see in our list of Stevie Wonder Albums Ranked Worst to Best, his legend and influence grew in the '70s.

That's the decade when, arguably, no other artist racked up a string of classic records in such a short span: five years, five essential LPs – and he even skipped 1975!

12 Times Fans Hated Their Favorite Band's Big Hits (UCR)

Those in whom we invest so much of our emotional capital have the greatest capacity to disappoint us. Imagine being a Billy Joel fan in 1989 when the local DJ announced there was a new Billy Joel song he was going to play and you, the Billy Joel fan, felt the anticipation rise within you. It had been three years since The Bridge, and you needed some new music from him like you needed air, like you needed water, like you needed food.
And the DJ played the record, and the first words you hear from your hero were “Harry Truman, Doris Day, Red China, Johnnie Ray, South Pacific, Walter Winchell, Joe DiMaggio.” A recitation, not a song.

On the turntable this Sunday...Paradise Theatre

Paradise Theatre is the tenth album by the rock band Styx, released in January 1981 (see 1981 in music). It was the most successful album by Styx, peaking at #1 for 3 weeks on the Billboard Album Chart in April and May 1981 (non-consecutively).
concept album, the album is a fictional account of Chicago's Paradise Theatre from its opening to closing (and eventual abandonment), used as a metaphor for America's changing times from the late 1970s into the 1980s. (Dennis DeYoung, who envisioned and developed the entire concept, confirmed this in an episode of In the Studio with Redbeard about the making of the album.)
Four singles from the album charted, three in the top 10. The lead single "The Best of Times", written by Dennis DeYoung, went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Too Much Time on My Hands", written by Tommy Shaw, went to #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, Shaw's only top 10 hit for Styx. "Nothing Ever Goes as Planned", written by DeYoung, went to #54 on the US Pop Chart. "Rockin' the Paradise" — written by DeYoung, Shaw and James Young — went to #8 on the Top Rock Track Chart.
Paradise Theatre became Styx's only US #1 album. It was the band's fourth consecutive triple-platinum album.
Vinyl copies of the album have a design featuring the name of the band laser etched directly onto the vinyl on side 2 (some copies had a wax design of the cover art). The vinyl record sleeve was a gate-fold and was painted by artist Chris Hopkins. On the back cover, label and spine, the title of the record is spelled "Paradise Theater", while on the front cover, the title is spelled "Paradise Theatre".
Vinyl releases and initial CD pressings of the album had the musical segue between "Half-Penny, Two-Penny" and "A.D. 1958" indexed as the intro to "A.D. 1958". Subsequent pressings of the CD had the segue indexed as the fade to "Half-Penny, Two-Penny" instead.
