Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of popular music in general. For better or worse, I usually don't listen to whatever is currently charting. I've found some cool music because of that, and I know I've missed some worthwhile music as well. As some are fond of saying now, "It is what it is."
But do you, like me, ever think that the songs that top the charts sound a lot like those other songs that also topped the charts?
Do they seem to have the same hooks, tempo, and even chord changes?
There's probably a reason why we think that.
