Phish - 6/14/11 "Ocelot" from Phish on Vimeo.
A recent “Ocelot”
Last night, Phish made its fourth appearance at Alpharetta, GA’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park. Like the previous night’s Phish show at the same venue, the group’s performance was webcast via Pay-Per-View. Unfortunately, both the show and stream were delayed until after 8 PM due thunderstorms. When the band did take the stage, they opened with their first take on “Paul and Silas” since 2009 and later busted out both “Water in the Sky” and “Army of One” for the first time this tour. After an entertaining segue from Ween’s “Roses Are Free” into “Timber (Jerry),” the storm picked up again and Phish was forced to stop in the middle of “Mound.” As he left the stage, Trey Anastasio said the band would finish the Mike Gordon original when they returned.
As promised, the group restarted “Mound” at the start of their second set. As a treat for fans who stuck with the show and webcast, the group brought its set to a closed with Phish’s second-ever take on the Party Time ditty “The Birdwatcher” and a rare “Kung.” Phish also teased “The Birdwatcher” again during a cover of Son Seal’s “Funky Bitch” that moved into “Tweezer Reprise.”
Phish’s tour will continue at Charlotte, NC’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre tomorrow.
