Widespread Panic Red Rocks 2014 Recap

Being a devoted fan of Widespread Panic for over 20 years, this past weekend in Colorado was a special one for me as I finally had the opportunity to see my favorite band at one of my favorite venues on earth-the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO.  The band delivered a blistering marathon of music with several surprises during their three-night stand at Red Rocks... 


On Friday, the band treated fans to their first “Bayou Lena” since November 8, 2008, while the encore was a trio of Talking Heads covers—“Papa Legba,” “Life During Wartime” and “City of Dreams.”


Saturday night saw Panic pay tribute to singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt, as the group performed four of his songs, “Aunt Avis, “Degenerate,” “Protein Drink” and “Sewing Machine” during the second set. 

The Sunday show also featured another tribute, as Panic closed out their first set with another trio of songs by The Band—“Ophelia,” “The Shape I’m In” and “Chest Fever.”
