Apple's iTunes Store Turns 10

Apple is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the iTunes Store this week with a new look.
Located under the music tab in the iTunes Store, “A Decade of iTunes” details key moments from 2003 through 2013, and a listing of the top-selling downloads from each year that the iTunes Store has been open.

First launched on April 28, 2003, iTunes initially offered music downloads only. Other media content was eventually added, including podcasts in 2005, movies in 2006, and classroom content through iTunes U in 2008.

One of the most important dates in iTunes Store history was July 11th, 2008. On this date, the iPhone 3G went on sale and the App Store officially opened, changing the landscape forever, with only 500 Apps available initially.

Happy anniversary, iTunes Store!
