On the turntable this Sunday...Western Stars

Western Stars is the nineteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released through Columbia Records on June 14, 2019.  It was produced by Ron Aniello, who worked with Springsteen on his two previous albums: Wrecking Ball (2012) and High Hopes (2014). The album marks Springsteen's first new studio album of completely original material since Wrecking Ball, as well as his first solo album since 2005's Devils & Dust.
Springsteen said a documentary on the making of the album is being planned. However, he is not expected to do a tour for the album and announced that he will shift focus towards recording a new album with the E Street Band in the fall of 2019.

Springsteen stated in April 2019 that the album was influenced by "Southern California pop music" of the 1970s, including artists such as Glen Campbell and Burt Bacharach. Upon announcing the album in April 2019, he called it "a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements", with a press release characterizing it as about a "range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope".

Western Stars has received critical acclaim from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews and ratings from selected mainstream critics, the album received a metascore of 84, which is based on 24 reviews indicating "universal acclaim."

The Beatles' "Yesterday" is believed to be the most covered song in history, with about 2,200 known versions as of 2017. We're looking at 50 of them, from metal to jazz to classical to country (and even barbershop quartet).

As the oft-told story goes, Paul McCartney woke up with the melody in his head. He gave it the working title "Scrambled Eggs" but eventually came up with a less-whimsical lyric.

On the turntable this Sunday...Desitvely Bonnaroo

Desitively Bonnaroo is a 1974 album by New Orleans rhythm and blues legend Dr. John. The album was produced by Allen Toussaint and features sizable musical support from The Meters. The album mines the territory featured on his previous album In The Right Place. This album spent eight weeks on the Billboard 200 charts, peaking at #105 on June 1, 1974.
The Bonnaroo Music Festival was named after the album title, after the festival's founders looked through old albums for inspiration.[4] Bonnaroo is derived from French bonne /bÉ”n/, the feminine form of bon /bÉ”̃/ meaning "good," and French rue /ry/ meaning "street," translating roughly to "the best on the streets.

On the turntable this Sunday...RAM

Ram (stylised as RAM) is a studio album by Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney, released in May 1971 on Apple Records.  Ram was recorded amid McCartney's legal action in the United Kingdom's High Court to dissolve the Beatles' partnership, following the band's break-up the year before. It was recorded in New York with guitarists David Spinozza and Hugh McCracken, and future Wings drummer Denny Seiwell. Its release coincided with a period of bitter acrimony between McCartney and his former bandmate John Lennon, who perceived verbal slights in the lyrics to songs such as "Too Many People".
On release, Ram was unfavourably received by the majority of music critics, although opinion has become more positive in subsequent decades. The album was a commercial success nonetheless, topping the national albums charts in the UK, the Netherlands and Canada. Three singles were issued from Ram: "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", which was McCartney's first number 1 hit in America as a solo artist, "The Back Seat of My Car" and "Eat at Home". The album was remastered on vinyl and CD and released as a deluxe box set in May 2012.
