On the turntable this Sunday...Tim

Tim is an album released in October 1985 on Sire Records by the US alternative rock band The Replacements. It was their first major label release and also the last album made by the original line-up of the band: guitarist Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band towards the end of 1986.

Like its predecessors, Tim achieved moderate mainstream commercial success despite critical acclaim. The album peaked at number 183 on the Billboard Music Chart's Top 200. It was placed 136th on Rolling Stone's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and ranked 4th in the Alternative Press list of the Top 99 albums of 1985-1995. Along with the band's previous album, Let It Be, Tim received five stars from Allmusic.

On the turntable this Sunday...My Aim Is True

The album was recorded at Pathway Studios in Holloway, London Borough of Islington, over the course of 1976 during late-night studio sessions, in a total of twenty-four hours. It was the first of five consecutive Costello albums produced by Nick Lowe. The backing band was made up of members of Clover. They were uncredited on the original release due to contractual difficulties; some early publicity for the album identified the backing band as "The Shamrocks".

In 2003, the TV network VH1 named My Aim Is True the 80th greatest album of all time. In 2003, the album was ranked number 168 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2004, it was ranked 37 of the top 100 albums of the 1970s by Pitchfork which reported the album to be "held by many as the most impressive debut in pop music history." In 2007, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Bob Marley & The Wailers-Kaya Deluxe Edition

Kaya is admittedly one of Bob Marley’s weaker sets, though hardly a bust. Released in 1978 and recorded the year before at the same sessions that produced Exodus, overall, it possesses a less-edgy vibe—at times, exuding a detachment and complacency that isn’t found on the earlier, brawnier, more strident works. Please follow the link to read the full review at Relix.
