The Van Halen onslaught continues… just last week, Van Halen announced plans for a reunion tour and a new album — their first album with original lead singer, David Lee Roth, since 1984. This week, the band has released a ‘no-frills’ video for their new single “Tattoo.”
The band recorded the black-and-white clip at the Roxy in Los Angeles last week, but don’t expect any little-kid versions of the band members, half-naked teachers, dancing hamburgers, or (thankfully) ass-less chaps.
Diamond Dave shows that he’s still got some dance moves and is still a big a ham as he ever was, though his vocal range has aged quite a bit. As for the song itself, it’s almost immediately forgettable regardless of a solid Eddie Van Halen guitar solo, but it’s otherwise bathroom-break material for the upcoming tour.
Being a purist, I still miss Michael Anthony, but that’s another article for another day. In the meantime, enjoy the new video here!
